ITINERARY
Day 1: August 10, 2025 / Departure Departure at 6:00 a.m. from P+R Bouillon in Luxembourg to Pontresina, including breakfast and lunch.
Day 2: August 11, 2025 / Muottas Muragl Today's program includes an excursion to the Upper Engadin. You'll reach the Muottas Muragl viewpoint via the region's oldest funicular railway. This spectacular plateau offers a unique panoramic view where you can admire nearly all the valleys and lakes of the region in their full splendor. Enjoy a short hike or a relaxing drink with a panoramic view at the Romantik Hotel. Afterwards, continue to the Morteratsch Glacier.
Day 3: August 12, 2025 / Chiavenna – Bernina Express Passing through St. Moritz, Lake Sils, and Majola, the day begins with a visit to the Italian town of Chiavenna, famous for its historic old town and excellent restaurants. The journey continues to Tirano. The highlight of the day is the ride on the Bernina Express, a scenic marvel. The train crosses numerous bridges and winds its way up in breathtaking curves. You will pass the Bernina Pass at over 2,300 meters before reaching Pontresina.
Day 4: August 13, 2025 / Morning Carriage Ride – Leisure Time After breakfast, enjoy a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the idyllic Fex Valley. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, allowing you to explore the beautiful natural surroundings.
Day 5: August 14, 2025 / Glacier Express Experience a magical panoramic journey on the legendary Glacier Express, traveling through the Engadin highlands, the Rhine Valley, and onward through sunny Valais to Zermatt. Along this scenic route, you will cross 291 bridges and pass through 91 tunnels carved into the rock. While enjoying lunch in the modern 1st class carriages, take in the stunning diversity of the Swiss alpine landscape.
Days 6 & 7: August 15 & 16, 2025 / Zermatt Zermatt is a highly popular holiday destination in the Swiss Alps, known as the gateway to the Matterhorn, one of the world's most iconic mountains. Enjoy leisurely walks to take in the fresh alpine air and the breathtaking mountain backdrop. Stroll through the car-free village and explore its numerous shops. It's also recommended to take the train or cable car to Rifflalp, the Klein Matterhorn, the Rothorn, or the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise summit station. A visit to the Matterhorn Museum – Zermatlantis is also worthwhile for fascinating insights into the region's history.
Day 8: August 17, 2025 / Return Journey Return by train to Täsch, followed by the return journey to Luxembourg, including lunch.
