Day 1: July 19, 2025 / Arrival - Reykjavík Departure at 7:30 a.m. in Luxembourg at the P+R Bouillon to Frankfurt and direct flight to Keflavík. After landing, transfer to your accommodation in Reykjavík, Iceland's capital. The evening is at your leisure.
Day 2: July 20, 2025 / Geyser Strokkur The Golden Circle itinerary first takes you to the Althing, the second oldest parliament still in existence in the world. Continue into the Haukadalur valley to the Strokkur geyser, which erupts reliably every few minutes. You will then see the Gullfoss waterfall and visit the Lava Center, where you will learn all about Iceland's geological history. Before returning to the hotel, you will visit the Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
Day 3: July 21, 2025 / Cape Dyrhólaey - Canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur In the morning you drive to Cape Dyrhólaey. After a short hike, you will reach the spectacular Sólheimajökull glacier. You will then explore the black sand beach Reynisfjara, which is home to unusual basalt formations. Finally, you will walk to the famous canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur.
Day 4: July 22, 2025 / Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon You start the day with a boat trip on the breathtaking Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Afterwards, you will pass the East Fjords along the coast. In Fáskrúðsfjörður, you will visit the French Museum, which will introduce you to the harsh everyday life of the French and Belgian fishermen who lived in this tranquil fishing village.
Day 5: July 23, 2025 / Vatnajökull National Park - Hverir - Vití Crater Lake - Dimmuborgir Today you will hike to the Dettifoss waterfall in Vatnajökull National Park. Continue to the Hverir geothermal area, along steaming fumaroles. At lunchtime, you have the opportunity to take a pleasant dip in the Mývatn Nature Baths. In the afternoon, your excursion takes you to the bright blue Vití crater lake. You will then visit Lake Mývatn and walk through the Dimmuborgir lava field.
Day 6: July 24, 2025 / Goðafoss - Whale Museum A visit to the unique Goðafoss waterfall awaits you in the morning. You will then continue to the whale museum. Afterwards, you have the option of taking part in an exciting whale safari or relaxing in the GeoSea spa.
Day 7: July 25, 2025 / Akureyri - Siglufjörður City tour of Akureyri before visiting the botanical garden. Drive along the fjords to the beer spa. From there we head to the northernmost town in Iceland: Siglufjörður, the former center of herring fishing. Visit to the herring museum.
Day 8: July 26, 2025 / Open-air museum - Grábrók crater Today you will visit the Glaumbær open-air museum, which offers a fascinating insight into traditional Icelandic life in the 18th and 19th centuries. You will then visit the Víðimýrarkirkja peat church. Your journey then takes you to the Kidka Woolfactory in Hvammstangi. At the end of the day, you will explore the impressive Grábrók Crater.
Day 9: July 27, 2025 / Snæfellsnes Peninsula - Viking sushi boat tour You go on an excursion to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, which is often referred to as "Iceland in miniature". There you will take part in the Viking sushi boat trip, where you can enjoy the fresh catch directly on the boat.
Day 10: July 28, 2025 / Langjökull glacier - Reykholt In the morning you drive to Langjökull, the second largest glacier in Iceland. From Húsafell, you will take part in the "Into the Glacier" tour, during which you will explore a tunnel system in the icy interior of the glacier. In the afternoon, you will make a short stop in Reykholt, a historic place of Icelandic poets and thinkers.
Day 11: July 29, 2025 / Free time in Reykjavík Explore the beautiful capital of Iceland on your own. We recommend a visit to Hallgrímskirkja and the modern Harpa opera house and concert hall as well as a visit to one of the many museums.
Day 12: July 30, 2025 / Keflavík - Journey home Return flight from Keflavík to Frankfurt. Subsequent bus journey to Luxembourg.
