Itinerary

Day 1: 21 May 2025 / Arrival

Early morning direct flight from Luxembourg to Thessaloniki. After arrival, transfer by bus to the island of Thassos and check into the hotel in Potos. Dinner together.

Day 2: 22 May 2025 / Around Kallirachi

Distance: approx. 8 km / Duration: approx. 3h30 / Altitude difference: approx. 600 m

Your walk begins in the charming village square of Kallirachi, on the island's idyllic west coast. After leaving the village, a 1.5 km gravel road leads to the Agioi Anargyroi church. After a short visit, you take an old country road that climbs for around 3 km before reaching another gravel road. This path leads to the hill of Metamorfosie and its eponymous church. The return journey takes you along the poetic ‘Poets’ Path’, lined with marble columns engraved with inspirational verses.

Day 3: 23 May 2025 / Kinira tour

Distance: approx. 14.5 km / Duration: approx. 5 hours / Altitude difference: approx. 600 m

After breakfast, a bus will take you to Kinira, the starting point of your walk. From the village's main road, you begin the ascent along an old path that once led to Theologos. The 4 km-long path passes through a picturesque forest before reaching the highest point, where an old gravel road takes over. The descent to Kinira offers spectacular views, particularly of the small island in the bay.

Day 4: 24 May 2025 / Tour of the island

Discover the most emblematic corners of Thassos on a guided bus tour. During the day, you'll learn a lot about the island's history and culture.Lunch at a local restaurant in Kinira is included.

Day 5: 25 May 2025 / Potos to Kastro

Distance: approx. 12.5 km / Duration: approx. 4h30 / Altitude difference: approx. 600 m

This walk takes you to the village of Kastro, the oldest on the island. It starts at the entrance to Potos, with a 2.5 km stretch of tarmac road before a gradual climb.After a stretch on level ground, you reach an old quarry and continue on to the medieval fortress of Kastro.After the visit, return to the hotel by bus.

Day 6: 26 May 2025 / Potamia to Theologos

Distance: approx. 16 km / Duration: approx. 7h30 / Altitude difference: approx. 1,200 m

From the village of Potamia, you climb to the summit of Ypsarios, the highest point on the island, where a breathtaking view awaits you. The descent takes you to Theologos, where you can visit the Kefalogourna waterfall and cool off in its crystal-clear waters.

Day 7: 27 May 2025 / Theologos - Free time

Explore the village of Theologos, known for its authenticity and rich history. You can visit a cemetery, a church and a local museum. After a morning of culture, return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 8: 28 May 2025 / Return

Morning transfer to Thessaloniki airport for your return flight to Luxembourg.
